Code of Conduct


General

  1. The Bureau has been established to collate and/or process information relating to Individuals for purposes of assessing their credit-worthiness;
  2. Some of that information is supplied by Members of the Bureau and relates to Customers of such Members;
  3. In turn the Bureau will be providing Consumer Credit Reports on Individuals to its Members;
  4. A general legal duty of confidentiality applies to information of the type that will pass between the Bureau and its Members;
  5. The Bureau and the Members wish to address concerns relating to the protection of rights to information, privacy rights of Individuals and use of Consumer Credit Reports and to ensure transparency and accountability in the operations of the Bureau;
  6. The Bureau and the Members agree that confidential customer information shall only be supplied to, and provided by, the Bureau in accordance with this Code;
  7. The Members agree to request and use confidential customer information from the Bureau only in accordance with this Code;
  8. This Code will regulate the operations of the Bureau; and
  9. The Bureau and the Members agree to ensure compliance with this Code and to process complaints as to non-compliance of this Code through the Compliance Committee(s) in accordance with this Code,

Now, this Code of Conduct is established by the Bureau for and on behalf of itself and the Members.
